Testimonials from Previous Student Ambassadors
“I feel like the student ambassador position truly built my global networks and has helped me meet new friends from across the globe”
“I like that the information was simple, clear, and suited to what I wanted to do! I also enjoyed the variety of departments that we had the chance to work in. I found the workload to be very manageable and I couldn’t ask for better coherence.”
“The best advice I could give is to choose the tasks which you find most rewarding! If you struggle with them, make your struggle known; I’m sure the DYT leaders would be more than open to finding a solution”
- Cooper, Thailand
“I really loved the flexibility of our responsibilities that allowed me to try different areas and help as much as I could. It was also very nice to compete for the “Best Student Ambassador” title.”
“Ambassadors get an amazing opportunity to visit that year’s host country without taking any tests, unline the participants who need to be amount the top 5 in their school to reach the presentation round. I definitely enjoyed the trip.”
- Serafima, Türkiye
“It’s a great experience that can teach you many skills for your academic and professional future.”
“I mostly enjoyed the getting to know many new people from different cultures and backgrounds and having the opportunity to collaborate with them. I also enjoyed the opportunity to develop new skills in my own areas of interest like social media managing and having a lot of space for creativity and my own initiative.”
- Simona, Denmark
About the Role
Student ambassadors are the backbone of the International Douglas-Young Tournament. They help organise the tournament and work closely with the DYT heads. Student ambassadors are leaders, communicators, and help the DYT heads adapt the tournament to each school. Being a student ambassador is a CAS project and work experience.
Student ambassadors must:
- Market the competition to their classmates (e.g. putting up posters, giving presentations, sending emails…)

Then, student ambassadors will join one or more teams that specialise in different areas.

Prizes
One DYT Student Ambassador will have the pleasure to win the “Best DYT Student Ambassador” award! The winner of this award will be someone who creates a big, positive impact with their initiatives, actions, and help. The award will consist of a certificate and a gift from the executive council.
This award will be announced at the closing ceremony held in Denmark. It is important to note that DYT Student Ambasadors are not required to go to the social events, closing ceremony, and second round in Denmark as part of their role description. They are of course invited but if they cannot make it, this will have no effect on their elegibility for the “Best DYT Student Ambassador” award or the completion of their role as a whole.
